IBM is reaching out to the Lotus Community - Meet the Experts

There are many IBMers in the IBM Collaboration Solutions team who love to help out our customers, partners and the Lotus community. IBM Collaboration Solutions (or ICS) includes a wide ranging portfolio of products covering Web Experience (Portal), Collaboration, Social Business and Unified Communications. For those of you who, like myself, have a fondness for the Lotus brand it is important to understand that ICS is a superset that still includes Lotus branded products, but ICS goes beyond the traditional Lotus heartland as we integrate more and more IBM technology such as analytics and sentiment tracking into the core stack and augment it with software from our middleware cousins in Tivoli, IM and Websphere.

Many of the ICS team keep up with the Lotus Community through tools like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and of course PlanetLotus.org. Sometimes watching, sometimes joining in. We also like to attend conferences and Lotus User Groups as well as participate in Podcasts, Tweetups and LotusBeers.

However, we can always do more to make ourselves available to the community so here in the UK we have started adding descriptions and contact details of more social and collaboration experts to help people find and connect to us. You can find these profiles in the "Meet the Experts" area on a whole bunch of web pages such as these...

http://www-01.ibm.com/software/uk/itsolutions/collaboration-solutions/
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/uk/lotus/

If you click the "Options to Connect" it will bring up a full profile with links to our profiles on various social sites. So don't be a stranger, drop by and say "Hi".

Unless is backed up by Lotus Notes, any other Lotus product loses appeal.

If Notes is removed from the environment, the choice for social media will very likely be anything but Lotus.

IBM, show your support for Lotus Notes!

@Anonymous Lotus Notes is still very strategic to our Social Business solutions and a new version of Notes is being released on October 4th (Version 8.5.3). Lotus Notes now provides very tight integration with our social platforms.

Of course we also ensure that our social solutions work very well for customers who have deployed alternative technologies, for example integration with Windows, Outlook, MS Office and Sharepoint

Haha! - Your reply managed to include the name of the competitors. How appropriate!

That shows IBM's lack of interest in Notes.

Anyway - prepare to lose another 10000+ seats and a move away form IBM software.

As a Notes supporter for over 10 years I am upset, but not surprised.

OK Anonymous - I won't delete your trolling comment. If you are a Notes supporter as you say then you can contact me at mrports (at) gmail.com or ports (at) ibm.com (both arrive in my Notes inbox) and I can engage our team to help in the account you allude to. The next version of Notes - Social Edition 8.5.4 is packed full of innovation and new features and is due out before the end of the year - so IBM's commitment and support of Lotus Notes/Domino is stronger than ever. If you get in touch I can share more about what is coming. I can also tell you that I have personally been involved with 3 wins this quarter where customers are moving from MS to Notes/Domino and others who are moving to our SmartCloud Notes multitennant cloud offering.
