Sweet Jesus

There are many folks that have sincere and committed beliefs in a religion. I have absolute respect for these folks and would never ridicule them despite the fact that I don't personally think that organised religions can ever pass common sense, logic or any test of evidence. The reason I respect them is that I understand the concept of faith (which by definition demands a lack of proof) but more to the point have found that in general the religious folks I have met to are really nice people. Obviously I'm talking about proper religions like Judaism, Islam and Christianity. Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses and Scientologists are idiots and deserve to have L.Ron Hubbard read Battlefield Earth to them for eternity.

Because of the sensitivity of the subject I would not normally dream of commenting on such things. However, the Da Vinci Code movie has caused me to break my silence because of the unbelievably outrageous demands of the Catholic Church.

In the UK, leading Catholics have demanded a "health warning" after a survey of 1,000 people suggested that reading the original book could undermine a belief in Christian traditions. The research claimed those who had read Brown's novel were twice as likely to believe its central theme - of Jesus being a father - than those who had not. "For many it is fiction," said Dr Austen Ivereigh, co-ordinator of the DVC Response Group, which comprises priests, monks, theologians and members of Opus Dei. "But an alarming number of people take its spurious claims very seriously indeed."
So what does Dan Brown say? A 36 year old middle Eastern man called Jesus may have shagged his good mate Mary and they had a kid. Could that be possible? Maybe. Or the competing argument - an omniscient GOD felt the need to make his "son" incarnate on earth and take on all the sins of mankind. Catholics thank "Christ" by drinking his blood and eating his flesh for communion. L Ron is starting to look normal.

The funny thing is that by criticising the depiction of the Catholic Church (and the weird Opus Dei freaks) in this film the Catholic Church and Opus Dei have received more attention than they could possibly have gained in any other way. If Dan Brown worked in advertising he would get a pay rise.

Hey everyone, it's a movie. Get over it.

Just to draw a parallel with icons being worshipped - this one started me on the route to atheism after having Christianity thrust upon me by the UK State Schooling system.

I remember watching in the early 70's the film version of Planet of the Apes (the 1968 one with Charlton Heston). The Apes create a temple from an long lost (it was set in the future) US missile bunker complete with inter continental nuclear missile, they found symbolism with the text & flags on the missile.

I can't make my mind up about whether to go & see The Davinci Code or not. Clearly, I'm not bothered by the negative religious comment, I haven't read the book, I am interested in Freemasonary & The Knights Templars. I usually like Tom Hanks films, but the reviews have been generally negative.

The Danny Haszard Cult now has a few followers.
Danny has adopted the universal cult-leader stance of presenting himself as both a victim, and a type of savior showing the way to salvation. He is of course successful with only those who reject an honest investigation and give themselves over to the control and teachings of someone who teaches hate.
These traits, of being a victim and a leader intensely interested in saving others, are of course at the very essence of Cults and their delusional leaders.
Though offering a pretense of help, however, his offering lacks conciliatory and genuine assistance to Jehovah's Witnesses, fellow "victims" for whom surely he must hold some kind of good intent.... But, no, he sadly and pathetically just tries to create separation and anger, tries to divide families, tries to destroy happiness, and teaches a withdrawing from and a rejection of the accepted freedoms of speech of our society.
He suppresses the truth in favor of his own vitriolic hate. His efforts are reflective of a perception of personal grandeur and a fixation on his own self-worth.
Also a trait of Cult leaders, Danny lacks the fortitude and purpose in life to accomplish good for himself and others without needing the adulation of others he can dupe. Cult leaders need to build their own self-esteem and to feed their own personal aggrandisement, and to strengthen their own wobbly beliefs by grasping for the approval of followers. Anger is so often a front for fear and weakness. It is the weak person, usually accompanied by weak reasoning, who turns from truth and uses anger and fear as a motivator. Those similarly inclined or susceptible become followers of cult leaders like Danny Haszard.
Instead he has actually made himself more of a slave to the Watchtower than he ever was as a member - he is addicted to his fears and anger, addicted to attacking, delusional as to the success of his efforts to tear down the faith of others, and uses hate as a tool to appeal to those similarly lacking in faith, or honesty, or dignity, or self-worth, or personal esteem.
Remarkably his entire purpose in life in now linked to the Watchtower. Again, apparently, more than it ever was as a member.
This cultish behavior includes efforts to drawing off a following for himself....He has set himself up as an authority figure who works hard to attract followers.
This is the new Danny Haszard Cult.

Jehovah's witnesses are the spammers of the world.

They exhibit obnoxious argumentaive troll like behavior when they INTRUDE door to door and when they post in theses forums.

You demand every consideration, but don't grant the same courtesy to others.

You want your way to do as you please you think you are the one true religion and smear everybody else.

Debunking myths about the Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs

A) They are at your door to recruit you for enslavement to their watchtower corporation, they will say that "were just here to share a message from the Bible" this is deception right off.
B) The 'message' is their false Gospel that Jesus is ruling in heaven already since 1914.The problem with this is it's not just a cute fairy tale,Jesus warned of the false prophets who would claim "..look he is here in the wilderness,or see here he is at the temple"

C) Their anti-blood transfusion ban has killed hundreds if not thousands
D) once they recruit you they will "love bomb" you in cult fashion to also recruit your family & friends or cut them off.

There are many more dangers,Jehovah's Witnesses got a bad rap for good and valid reasons.
